 Joe Ferriero (Book, Music & Lyrics)

Joe’s first musical OZ! A Twisted Musical has had a few productions around the U.S.. He has written several plays including The Princess and the Pea, Cinderella, Lost & Found, No Name (Broadway World Best Play Nominee), The Wicked Watermelon, Can’t Ever Tell and several TYA shows.  He is currently working on a new musical with award-winning composer Karen Sokolof Javitch titled I’m Gonna Fly.  He has been a director for over 15 years and his directing credits including Legally Blonde, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Lysistrata Jones, The Addams Family, Sister Act, The Sound Of Music.  He has worked with Tony Award Nominee Douglas Carter Beane and Lewis Flinn on their Broadway musical Lysistrata Jones.  Joe’s full time gig is as an elementary principal in Minnesota.

 Karen Sokolof Javitch (Additional Music & Lyrics)

A former teacher of the visually impaired, Karen stayed at home with her children until they started school. At that point, her background in piano, singing, and dancing led her to an exciting career in song writing. In her first effort, she penned the lyrics and composed the music for Jim Conant’s Love! At the Café! Next, she co-wrote the musical From Generation to Generation with author Elaine Jabenis. Karen’s other musicals include Princess Diana: The Musical and Surprise!.  She is currently working on the musical I’m Gonna Fly with Joe Ferriero.

 Michele Sarnoski (Director)

Michele is a graduate of Susquehanna University (B.A.) and Seton Hall University (M. Ed.). She has choreographed multiple drama productions, including: Annie, Guys & Dolls Jr., Disney’s Aladdin Jr., Guys & Dolls, Oz! A Twisted Musical, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. Michele is the head cheering coach at Paramus High School and for more than 5 years the head cheering coach for St. Stephen School and St. Mary High School. As a producer, Michele has worked on Bye Bye Birdie, Sound of Music  and Legally Blonde (Paramus High School).  As a director Michele has worked on The Rocky Horror ShowDisney’s High School Musical, Down in Front, A Family Reunion to Die For, Xanadu, Urinetown, Young Frankenstein, The Addams Family, and Somewhere Nowhere.  Michele is also the director of W.H.A.T.’s 24 hour musicals.

Scott Burzynski (Music Director & Orchestrator)

Scott Burzynski – Music Director/Accompanist – As the General Music teacher at Washington and Garfield schools here in Kearny, Scott gets to make music with some of the coolest kids around!  He’s also the organist at Pompton Reformed Church in Pompton Lakes.  Scott has played and programmed keyboards, music directed, and conducted many productions at high school and community theaters in Northern New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania.  Favorite credits include In The HeightsLegally BlondeCamelotSpelling BeeNunsenseUrinetown, and Lucky Stiff.


Eliabeth Mason Camaraza (Assistant Director)

Elizabeth Camaraza is an English teacher at Newark Public Schools. Her previous roles at the West Hudson Arts and Theater Company include , Sleeping Beauty (Maleficent), Beauty and the Beast (Madame le Grande Bouche), Godspell (ensemble), Jesus Christ Superstar (ensemble) and Bleacher Bums (Rose Zigowski). Elizabeth made her directorial debut at WHATco with Disney’s The Little Mermaid. She has also played the role of Mrs. Sitgood at the Nutley Little Theater’s production of London Suite. Elizabeth is the director of Abington Avenue Elementary School’s drama club in Newark NJ and is a recipient of the NJPAC Disney’s Musical in Schools Program Grant. Her school was selected from hundreds of applicants in N.J. and was one of only five schools chosen. Elizabeth is honored to be working with such an amazingly talented cast and crew of Kearny, A True American Warrior.
